This page is dedicated to Cassander Tullos. Her family and descendants
are as follows: I have little or no confirmed information about her
past family but I have included some Tullos family data and some of my
own speculation.

Mary Jane McKenzie married William Auston Odom. see my Odom page for their
descendants. They are my Great Grand Parents.

In the church records of Magee's Creek Baptist Church in Pike County, Ms,
there is a record that William McKenzie married Cassander Tullous on
Oct 21, 1838.

Also shown in the church records in 1838 is that an R.R.
Tullous was received into the membership of the church. In Jan, 1839, the
church chose Silas Tulluos as moderator. I do not yet know who Cassander's
family was.

I have an e-mail from Bert Boutwell of Ponca City, Ok (bb405@horizon.hit.net)
that states:

I have data on Silas Tullos b. abt 1795 in Ga d abt 1854
	in Marion Cty, Ms
Richard Tullos b 2-26-1796 Ga died 1830 in Marion Cty Ms
who had sons named William and Richard.
My 4th great grandparents were Temple C Tullos and Lyndia
Mobley. They were in Pike County, Ms at the time of the 1820
census. There were believed to be six daughters, I know the
names of two. My 3rd great grandmother was Ellender Tullos,
b 3-18-1818, prob in Pike Cty.

=============

CAVEAT--as of the 1820 census, the above note would only document 2
daughters. Cassander was born in Dec 1820 which could be a third. The
1820 census records could be consistent for 2 daughters born as of that
date with the other 4, including Cassander, being born after that date.
=============

Bert also stated:

The other daughter was Clarenda Tullos, b 1-22-1817
	prob in Pike Cty.

	Temple C Tullos, b 6-14-1792 in Ga, d 1854, Jackson Parish, La,
1st m to Lydia Mobley. After Lydia's death, he relocated to
La and married Permelia Owens, b Oct 7, 1808, Charleston, SC

A review of the 1820 census for Pike County shows the following heads of
households:

		Archibald Tullos
		James Tullos
		John Tullos
		Stepp Tullos
		Temple Tullos, Sr
		Temple Tullos, Jr
		Thomas Tullos
		William Tullos
		Willibe Tullos

In neighboring Marion Cty, there was another Temple Tullos.

"Mississippi Marriages, early to 1825" shows a marriage of Silas Tullos
to Martha Carney on 11 Jan 1823. That should probably rule out Silas as
being Cassander's father unless this is a second marriage.

Willougby Tullos has the first cattle brand recorded in Marion County, Ms
in Conveyance Book A, page 11 which recites the brand to be:

"Swollow fork in the right ear and a smooth crop in the
left ear. Recorded 5th May 1812."

See end of page for my speculation of the lineage of Cassander Tullos.

=======================================================================
			SPECULATION
=======================================================================

Although I cannot prove that Cassander came from the following Tullos
line, there are several good indicators. First, I have found no other
Tullos line in the census records in Ms other than the ones listed below.
Second, if the story above about the 6 daughters with only 2 of them
named is correct, then Cassander could be one that is not named.

The 1820 Ms census record for the Tullos name shows:

	---------males------------	---------females------------
	un 10	10-26	26-45	45+	un 10	10-26	26-45	ov 45

Archibld 1	1	0	0	0	1	0	0
James 3	0	1	0	1	0	1	0
John 2	0	1	0	2	0	1	0
Stepp 0	2	0	0	0	1	0	0
Temple 0	0	1	0	2	1	0	0
TempleJr 3	1	1	0	1	1	1	0
TempleSr 0	4	1	1	0	2	1	1
Thos 0	0	1	0	0	1	0	0
William 0	0	1	0	0	1	0	0
Williabe 0	0	0	1	0	0	0	1

All above were in Pike Cty except Temple Tullos who was in Marion Cty.

Mississippi Marriage Records Early to 1825 show:
James Tullis m to Mary Sullivan 19 Jul 1810, Amite Cty
John Tullis m to Mary Mitchell 3 Nov 1811, Adams Cty
John Tullos m to Margaret Fletcher 4 Jan 1812 Amite Cty
Silas Tullos m Martha Carney 11 Jan 1823, Lawrence Cty
Thos Tullos m Susannah 10 Feb 1820, Lawrence Cty

I am going to speculate that Cassander Tullos' lineage is as follows with
details following this summary:

Claudius Tullos, b abt 1641 Scotland, d 1700 Va m Sarah Rodham
b abt 1640 d abt 1713
|
|
John Tullos b Jun 12, 1682, Va d 1737 Va, m Barbara Mason b bef 1701 Va
|
|
RICHARD TULLOS, b Jan 1, 1700 Va, d 1737, Va m ELIZABETH BARRETT
b bef 1701, prob Va
|
|
The next level would descend from one of 3 sons of Richard and would be
one of the 3 following choices:

1==John Tullos b 1750 va, d 1828 Ga
William Tullos Sr b abt 1785 NC, d aft 1850 Smith Cty Ms
			m Martha London, b 1797 Ga, d 1875 Trinity Cty Tx

Bert Boutwell (bb405@horizon.hit.net) sent me a gedcom of the Tullos line
that he is following which include the above people and accounts for
what appears to be all of the Tullos line in Ms. That gedcom, summarized,
shows the following:

It appears that only the three lines listed above migrated to Miss. Thus, I
will list their descendants in an attempt to identify a possible source for
Cassander.

I believe that Cassander was the daughter of Temple C Tullos b 6-14-1792 Ga,
d 1854 Jackson Par, La, 1st wife Lydia Mobley on the basis that the name of
Cassander is similar in sound to the other two known daughters of Clarenda
and Ellender.
